During this 2 day workshop you will learn the basics of working with this exciting and ancient way of painting with melted natural beeswax that is mixed with colour pigments. Using gentle heat, each layer of wax is fused to the layer beneath. We will be working from a warm palette and experimenting with different tools used to texture the wax and create rich and wonderful surfaces.
For the person with little or no glassblowing experience. Learn the basic skills to manipulate molten glass. Shape small paperweights and simple blown forms. Time will be divided between working on the bench and assisting fellow classmates. Small class limited to two people gives lots of hands on experience. Ideal for friend/ partners/family members.
A fun overview and introduction to the basic art of glassblowing. Learn about the composition of glass and the tools and furnaces required to make glass. Learn some of the history of glassblowing and how modern art glass techniques have not changed much in hundreds of years. Experience some of the fun qualities of glass like cane pulling or making a Prince Rupert’s drop. This is not a hands on course, but will be an interactive teaching time. Questions and curiosity a must!
